Out of School

Will be appreciated by anyone who has ever gone to school, however unwillingly. Listed in Guardian Children’s Book Supplement Local bestseller

A vividly brilliant anthology of schoolyard experiences and poems, written and illustrated with original artwork by pupils and teachers alike.

Out of School has its tongue firmly in its cheek, it is hysterically funny, a bit rude, a lot personal, touching, deeply sad and above all, honest.

A group of us at Sammon Publishing decided to try bringing to life the thoughts of any children or teacher who could be cajoled into submitting a story, painting, poem or flickering thought. We were overwhelmed with the response and with what emerged from both sides of the Atlantic.

The children were offered the brief, “Unto thine own self be true.” They were also told there would be no censorship of their entries. (Readers be warned!)
